by Mark Rabinowitz

The lone new entry in this weeks Indie Top 10, “Caught Up,” kicked off
with a modest $3,398 talley on 713 screens, while many of the rest of
the top ten held on to good portions of their previous week’s gross.
Eve’s Bayou,” “Mrs. Dalloway,” “Comrades, Almost A Love Story” and
Moon Over Broadway” all dropped 20% or less, while Trimark’s “Star
Kid
,” only dropped 16% but continues to have anemic per screen numbers.
First Look‘s “Dalloway” expanded onto 19 screens from 8 and still
managed a respectible second week per screen average of over $5,000.

On the Other Top 5 list, Oscar nominees continued to rack up impressive
numbers, with “Good Will Hunting” gaining 2% over last weekend and “The
Apostle
” holding on to all but 4% of its box office take. New Line‘s “Wag
The Dog
” appears finally to be waning after racking up an impressive $40
mil.+, getting pushed out of the top five by the same distrib’s stylish
new entry “Dark City.”
