In the battle of the per screen averages among the Indie Top 10 and
the Other Top 5, Lion’s Gate‘s “Love and Death on Long Island” scored
with an average of $13,025 on six screens. Another new entry, John
Sayles’ “Men With Guns” from Sony Picture Classics, reached an $11,067 per
screen average on two screens. Meanwhile, the Coen Brothers’ new
film “The Big Lebowski” managed a $4,585 average on over 1,200
screens.

Four Miramax entries, “Four Days in September,” “Mrs. Brown,”
Scream 2,” and “Jackie Brown” were at the bottom of the per screen
average list this week with none of the four able to top a $1,000 per
screen average. “Scream 2” and “Jackie” barely registered, with
$359 and $349 averages respectively. The films have been in
theaters for 13 and 11 weeks respectively.
