Fourth-Annual Sundance Online Fest Offers 30 Films
by Wendy Mitchell
Ahead of next week’s kickoff of the festivities in Park City, the Sundance Institute has launched the fourth-annual Sundance Online Film Festival. This year’s offerings, found at sundance.org, are 30 short films and interactive projects. The online fest, running until February 15, offers 12 animated films, 10 short subject fiction and non-fiction films, and 8 works in the new forms gallery (using “interactive digital forms”). During the festival, these films will also screen at the Sundance Digital Center.
Among new features for this fourth-annual festival is a jury award for artistic content, to be presented to one film in each of the three categories. Also, online viewers can submit ratings for their favorite films to be considered for the audience award. Both types of awards will be announced on January 24 at the Sundance Film Festival‘s annual awards ceremony.
In addition to the films, the site also includes interviews with Robert Redford and festival programmers, the 2004 Sundance Film Festival trailer (with past trailers), a program of short films that will screen at the 2004 festival, past online film fest winners, photo albums, and highlights from the 2003 Sundance awards ceremony.
The 30 works in the 2004 online festival are as follows [information provided by Sundance].
