Five New Albums Worth Your Dime...

As part of my “nightjob,” I’m a music writer for The Austin Chronicle. In what will become a somewhat regular entry to this blog, here are five recent releases you should run out to the record store and purchase soon:

1. Franz Ferdinand, Franz Ferdinand (The White Stripes and Interpol had a Scottish baby and named it… ‘Franz Ferdinand”)
2. Cee-Lo, Cee-Lo Green … is the Soul Machine (Goodie Mob MC releases his new solo effort, which is the sound of Outkast had they not made a double-disc)
3. Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Greatest Palace Music (Indie folkie Will Oldham reinvigorates his country-western pop persona with some glossy Nashville styles)
4. Toots and the Maytals, True Love (The man who practically invented reggae tries to break big with some help from a stellar cast of friends)
5. Snow Patrol, Final Straw (Great Scots! More boys with kilts rock hard in what sounds like Coldplay if they listened to more Pavement and My Morning Jacket)
