As I mentioned recently, I will be teaching a course at The New School.
Dubbed “The Art and Industry of American Independent Cinema“, the class will take place in June here in New York and I am in the final stages of locking a syllabus. The class will include a daily film screening and lecture, as well as a few guest appearances.
Here’s where you come in…If you are reading this, please share with me the titles of a couple of films that you consider the most important or significant American independent films of the past two decades. I really appreciate any feedback and your suggestions just might be viewed by the students.
As for the books, I think I’ll go with “Spike Mike Reloaded” by John Pierson, “Down and Dirty Pictures” by Peter Biskind and “The End of Cinema as We Know It” by Jon Lewis. Any other suggestions?
