7.5 Minutes…

7.5 Minutes...

“We are here because of Andy Warhol,” joked a visual artist as we stood in a food line inside the cafeteria here at hot and sticky Wells College in Upstate New York last night. She is one of forty or so 2005 grantees attending the Creative Capital retreat this weekend, along with 125 more artists, consultants, and others (I am moderating a panel this afternoon and serving as a consultant for the weekend).

Indeed, The Warhol Foundation supported the creation of Creative Capital in 1990 and its the group’s biggest funder. Listening in on our chat, another artist added, “but in this case we only get seven and a half minutes…” Each of the 2005 grant recipients has 7.5 minutes on stage today and tomorrow to talk about their funded project and show clips, artwork and/or slides…

OK, lunch is over…back to the auditorium for more 7.5 minute presentations…
