There are so many film festivals in Austin, per capita, that I predict by 2010 there will be one film festival for every city resident.
But, seriously… another event ramps up this weekend as the Austin Asian Film Festival runs November 3-6. It all kicks off with the Opening Night selection, A State of Mind, screening Thursday night at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown. Other notable titles include Only the Brave, Electric Shadows, a collection of shorts from the Bejing Film Academy, and more. As the festival declares, “We will be showcasing over 30 feature films, documentaries and short films this year from countries all over Asia (including, Bhutan, China, North and South Korea, India, Pakistan, Vietnam and more).”
