For the second year in a row, the University of Texas Longhorns are going to the Rose Bowl. The big difference between this year and last, though, is that the Horns won the Big 12 Championship today to seal that status. Last year, the team had to lobby for a Bowl spot… this year, the tables have turned. It’s the first Big 12 victory for the Horns in nearly 10 years, and the first for coach Mack Brown. Now, I don’t wanna say that today’s game against Colorado wasn’t easy… but the score? 70-3.
This means two things for fans’ attention: 1. This week, we’ll know if QB Vince Young will get his invitation to the Heisman ceremony. 2. January 4 is the day for the Rose Bowl, where UT will inevitably face-off against No. 1 USC. This game against USC will decide who wins the national title, something UT has not had for 35 years.
It’s a great time to be a Longhorns fan.
