‘Cock and Bull’ Success Story

'Cock and Bull' Success Story

Anyone who follows this blog (“hi Mom”), knows I’ve been tracking the progress of Michael Winterbottom’s Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story. When Picturehouse head Bob Berney was telling me about it during SXSW last year, I could hardly contain my excitement. Then, I finally saw it during the Toronto Film Festival in September and loved it. I caught it again about a month later. Loved it even more. Blogged about it constantly. Well, it opened in America over the weekend, and it seems like other people are into it as well…

This afternoon, Box Office Mojo reports that it earned about $19,933 per screen on three screens, for a $59,800 total. This – so far – makes it the highest per-screen grosser of the weekend. That’s so cool! Finally, fans of modern Britcoms are getting their place in the arthouse. So, I urge anyone even curious about Steve Coogan and his genius to catch this film as it rolls out to additional screens.
