'Things that Hang' Among SXSW Films at ND/NF

Congratulations to all the SXSW filmmakers (past and present) who have just been invited to play the prestigious New Directors/New Films Festival in New York…

Ido Mizrahy’s terrific debut, Things that Hang From Trees, will play the festival following its world premiere (in the Emerging Visions section) at SXSW in two (!) weeks. Also screening there will be Laura Poitras’ My Country, My County, which will have its North American premiere in the SXSW 2006 Documentary Competition. Some other titles that played previous festivals but will play ND/NF following a stop at SXSW are Old Joy and The Wraith of Cobble Hill. Plus, a SXSW 2005 award-winner, Cavite, will also be a part of this year’s ND/NF. And while it’s not playing SXSW, I highly recommend catching Twelve and Holding at the fest, Michael Cuesta’s new, intense drama.
