Coppola and Almodovar Locked for Cannes

Today, the Guardian offers more speculation about this year’s Cannes contenders: with Sofia Coppola and Pedro Almodóvar considered shoo-ins for the festival’s lineup. “Other possible hopefuls include David Lynch’s experimental Inland Empire, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Babel,” Aki Kaurismaki’s Lights in the Dusk and The Caiman, a satirical study of Silvio Berlusconi by the Italian film-maker Nanni Moretti,” reports the British paper. Richard Linklater’s Fast Food Nation, Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain, and Ken Loach’s The Wind That Shakes the Barley are considered “outside bets.”

The Hollywood Reporter has a more comprehensive guess list here.
