SXSW 2006 Press 1: the trades

Now, we start combing through the press coverage for the SXSW Film Festival. The trades offered some great scoops and insight. Here’s a rundown of some of it:

– The good folks at indieWIRE have this extensive section devoted to all things SXSW 2006. It includes program highlights, panel recaps, and lots of cool iPOP photos.

– Variety was in full force, with editor Peter Bart giving an early Conference interview, plus reports from Ian Mohr like this one. There was some commentary by SXSW staple Dana Harris. And, a few reviews by critic Joe Leydon. (You’ll need a subscription for some of these)

– Over at The Hollywood Reporter, John DeFore reviewed a few selections, such as Fired!, from the festival. Plus, Gregg Goldstein recaps the award winners and more about fest happenings. (Also will need a subscription for some of these)
