On Tuesday night, as a group of us were leaving the Celluloid Dreams party, we witnessed a swarm of people moving in unison down the Croisette. It turns out it was a mass of paparazzi following Volver director Pedro Almodovar and his film’s star, Penelope Cruz:
I took this picture almost as much to show the photogs, as I did the stars. Apparently, they were simply walking back from dinner, guided down the street by Sony Pictures Classics’ Dylan Leiner. One friend joked that Almodovar was perhaps campaigning for his film to win the coveted Palm D’or this weekend. Volver was the front-runner all week, until Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Babel premiered to raves on Tuesday, and will give it some competition.
