Ham Tran Wins Perrier Prize

Filmmaker Ham Tran, director of “Journey From The Fall,” has been awarded Perrier’s Bubbling Under Award, presented at the 2006 Newport Beach Film Festival. The prize recognizes, “the achievements of an emerging and flourishing feature film director who has demonstrated outstanding talent.” The filmmaker, an immigrant from Saigon, recently graduated from UCLA with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television. The film, inspired by actual events, “follows the Nguyen family as they were separated after April 30, 1975. Like hundreds of thousands of other South Vietnamese, Long Nguyen endures the incredible ordeals of communist ‘re-education camps.'”
