CineVegas 2006.1: Double Down

Jarren and I have been in Vegas for the first 24 of 48 hours. We got in very early, but that didn’t matter all that much because the taxi line at the Vegas airport is ridiculous! You have to wait like cattle in the heat for about 20-30 minutes just to get the cab. Lame. Then, we got to the Luxor to check-in, and had to wait about 30 more minutes at the front desk. I read a magazine while I waited, it was so tedious. Once we got our room, we took a power nap, and I ventured over to the CineVegas headquarters at the Palms, to pick up our passes. Now, after all the headaches of our Vegas experience that day, the CineVegas process was way smooth and very cool. I ran into Trevor Groth, one of the heads of the fest here, and he was so helpful and in a great mood. The vibe at the festival is all Vegas… what other event will you briefly catch Gregg Araki playing craps on a casino floor?

So, we’re in Vegas. I’ve gambled a little, lost some money. We’re eating, drinking, etc. We went to a party at the Caesar’s Palace pool last night, and it was ground zero for a lot of the film industry that comes into town for this event. Within seconds, I was running into Arianna Bocco from the Gersh Agency, Dylan Leiner from Sony Pictures Classics, David Koh from Palm Pictures, the Zellner brothers, the Duplass brothers, Robin Leach, and the list goes on and on. Then, some of us braved a sketchy karaoke bar that is SO off the strip. More pictures soon enough…
