Fantastic Fest Panels

Fantastic Fest Panels

Austin’s second annual Fantastic Fest will begin on September 21 at the Alamo South Lamar. Among the recent additions to the schedule: Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (as in, a new prequel to the recent remake… got it?) will kick things off September 21, and conclude on September 28, with Darren Aronofsky presenting The Fountain. All these Hollywood, independent, and international titles sound all well and good… but, there also some panels. They include:

Saturday, September 23:
“Acquisitions Panel” (We ask, “how do filmmakers get their work into theaters?” Featuring John Pierson of Grainy Pictures, Dustin Smith of Roadside Attractions, and Jason Beck of First Look Studios. I’m moderating. Be there!)

Sunday, September 24:
“Gatchaman: The Battle of the Planets Panel” (A discussion with the crew/experts and a screening of classic episodes from the legendary series, “Gatchaman.”)

Tuesday, September 26:

& “Jack Stevenson Presents: Movies with Roots in Hell” (The cult historian discusses, and shows clips from, the history of drug use in cinema.)
