After literally years of waiting, Mike Judge’s second live action feature film (following up 1998’s Office Space) comes to theaters… sort of. The new film, Idiocracy, has received virtually no promotion and is opening in a handful of cities (Austin, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto) this weekend… very quietly. Except in Austin, where it was filmed and where Judge resides. It’s been shelved for months and months, gotten a tiny release, and no advance reviews. Is it any good? This report from AICN indicates that it might be. But, I’ll try to see it myself this weekend and find out what all the (non-existent) fuss is about.
