50 Lost Movie Classics

50 Lost Movie Classics

The Guardian polls an assortment of filmmakers and journalists, to come up with a list of the “50 Lost Movie Classics.” Among the picks that I totally agree with: Peter Fonda’s The Hired Hand (1971), Frank Perry’s The Swimmer (1968), the Zucker brothers’ Top Secret! (1984), Monte Hellman’s Cockfight (1974) and Two Lane Blacktop (1971), Alan Parker’s The Parallax View (1974), John Sayles’ Lianna (1982), among others. Most surprising addition to the list of classics? Julia Loktev’s acclaimed Day Night Day Night, which premiered at Cannes only this past May. One major gripe with the list: a lack of documentaries. What do you think?
