Morricone and Lansing to Receive Oscars

Composer-conductor Ennio Morricone and Sherry Lansing, the former chairman of Paramount Pictures Motion Picture Group will both receive honorary Oscar statuettes at the 79th annual Academy Awards presentation on February 25, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed. Lansing was voted the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award by the Board of Governors of AMPAS, while Morricone–who has composed more than 300 motion picture scores over a 45-year career–will receive an Honorary Award “for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music.” [Brian Brooks]
