Huntsinger Named to Telluride Fest Post
Julie Huntsinger has been named managing director of the Telluride Film Festival, which is set for August 31 – September 3, 2007 in Colorado. She will work alongside festival co-founder Tom Luddy and new co-director Gary Meyer who was promoted to the post after the recent departure of co-founders Bill and Stella Pence. Huntsinger joined Francis Ford Coppola‘s American Zoetrope in 1993 as Telluride Film Festival founder and Zoetrope producer Tom Luddy’s assistant. Later, she co-produced her first film for Luddy and Zoetrope’s Chrome Dragon Films. Her credits include “Vertical Limit,” “Beyond Borders,” “Racing Stripes” and the upcoming “P.S. I Love You,” for which she was an associate producer.
“Despite my long involvement with the festival as a resident curator, taking on the co-director position seemed daunting,” said Meyer, in a statement. “After Julie joined us, my fears were alleviated and I knew the team was complete. She really understands what it takes to run this festival and make it special.” [Eugene Hernandez]
