Joel and Ethan Coen have signed a deal with Focus Features and Working Title Films for their next two films, “A Serious Man” and “Burn After Reading.” “Burn,” described as a dark spy comedy, will star George Clooney, Frances McDormand, and Brad Pitt, is set to head into production later this summer. The Coens will debut their latest film, “No Country for Old Men” at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
“Joel and Ethan are the gold standard in American filmmaking,” said Focus CEO James Schamus in a statement. “To have the chance to make not one but two films with them – along with our friends at Working Title – makes all of us at Focus proud.” [Eugene Hernandez]
NOTE: The Coen Brothers will be participating in one of the Apple & indieWIRE Filmmaker Talks at the Apple Store Soho during the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival.
