Lakeshore Entertainmentannounced at Cannes that “300” star Gerald Butler will star in the high concept thriller “Game.” Lakeshore’s chairman and CEO Tom Rosenberg announced that Lakeshore will re-team for the third time with Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor on the film, which Neveldine and Taylor wrote and will direct in early 2008.
“Game” takes place in the near future, when a mind-control technology has taken over society. Butler plays Kable, a warrior against the imprisonment of identities. “As the world witnessed in ‘300,’ Gerald Butler is a commanding performer,” commented Rosenberg in a statement. “He is the perfect actor to play Kable, a man who represents the fight against the ruthless commercialization of our lives.”
“Game” is being produced by Lakeshore’s Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, and Skip Williamson. Lakeshore previously partnered with Neveldine and Taylor on last year’s “Crank” and will soon commence production on the thriller “Pathology.” [Peter Knegt]
