Alfie Vs. Alfie: the ‘Sleuth’ Trailer

Alfie Vs. Alfie: the 'Sleuth' Trailer

Maybe it will collapse under the expectations, but I have to say, I’m really excited about the October release of Sleuth. Directed by Kenneth Branagh from a screenplay adaptation by Harold Pinter, and starring Michael Caine and Jude Law, it sounds like a Brit-theater dream. I’ll be curious to see what stage-adapting Branagh does with British stage legend Pinter’s words. And to have Caine and Law face-off for the first time since the 2000 Academy Awards (Caine won), will be a treat. And, oh yeah, Caine created the Alfie character which Law updated decades later. Small-world trivia note: Harold Pinter was once married to original Alfie co-star Vivien Merchent. Get a glimpse of this film now, and watch the trailer.

No, not “Alfie,” “Sleuth.” And no, you don’t really give that impression, but since you didn’t mention Caine as starring in the original version of “Sleuth,” I wasn’t sure.

Yes, Mark… I don’t think I give that impression, do I? I know I use “Alfie” a lot, but I do know Pinter had nothing to do with it… besides get sloppy seconds.

You do know that Pinter didn’t write the original play or the original version of the films (also starring Caine), right?
