I’m a sucker for a good, old-fashioned miniseries (was Angels in America not one of the best movie events of that year?). Maybe it was coming of age in the 1980s, when you couldn’t go one week without some unforgettable multi-night television saga. They have slowly faded away from our TV culture, save for the occasional rebound on cable. This is where The Company comes in. I happened upon some details about this three-part CIA/KGB/MI6 thriller, produced by Ridley and Tony Scott while starring Michael Keaton, Alfred Molina, Chris “my nemesis” O’Donnell, and many more. It premieres August 5 on TNT. After reading up on The Company, I have one more acronym to throw into the mix: DVR.
