Emerging Visions Class of 2007: Sara and Naomi (‘TWISTED’)

Emerging Visions Class of 2007: Sara and Naomi ('TWISTED')

I’ve asked the filmmakers from the SXSW 2007 “Emerging Visions” section to give us all an update on their projects. Keep an eye out for more updates to come. Today, we have Sara Taksler and Naomi Greenfield, co-directors of crowd-pleasing doc, TWISTED: A Balloonamentary:

At our world premiere at SXSW, right after our intro, some footage came on screen – but it wasn’t ours. We ran to the projectionist to stop this random intruder film when Matt Dentler came over to stop us, “It’s a trailer! I guess you haven’t seen any other movies here yet.” We were pretty green…

Since SXSW, we’re getting much more into the groove of the festival circuit. We’ve had great screenings at eight festivals, including a standing ovation at the Independent Film Festival of Boston. We’ve continued to cover the festival towns with balloons and to teach our audiences how to make balloon dogs.

We’ve also had some nice reviews including one in the Hollywood Reporter that calls TWISTED: A Balloonamentary, “A thoroughly winning feature… One of those wide-grin quirkster documentaries one hopes to discover every festival season.” And right now we are writing this update from Final Frame, our online studio where we’re laying back DVD extras and an international version of the film for a distribution deal we have. It’s all really aweosme, but we’ve been working until 5 AM every night lately.

Everyone keeps telling us that all of this will be great experience for our next film. To which we say, “ANOTHER film?!” Someday (probably sooner than later) another movie will probably seem intriguing, but right now, sleep seems like a far better idea…
