In Telluride, why bother with Craigslist when you can just drop by the town’s “Free Box” a place to give or get free stuff. Every time I walk by before or after a movie there seems to be someone depositing or withdrawing something.
So, now its Monday in Telluride, and at indieWIRE, we’ve just posted the latest dispatch from the fest and its a few hours before the annual Labor Day picnic in the park. And then, a slew of repeat screenings of the festival’s most popular films have been announced.
Yesterday, I spent a few hours at the fest’s newest theater, The Backlot, which is screening movies about the movies. Kent Jones‘ “The Man In The Shadows” is a fascinating look at low budget Hollywood producer Val Letwon, an RKO fixture back in the 1940s, while Jyll Johnstone‘s “Hats Off” introduces the inspiring 92 year old actress, Mimi Weddell (see iPOP photo).
Also, yesterday, I caught an engaging outdoor discussion between Sean Penn, Werner Herzog and Jon Krakauer and later spent some time at the annual, exclusive Variety party for the fest’s filmmakers.
