Juan Antonio Bayona’s The Orphanage is a frightful and eerie Spanish ghost story. The film fuses both childhood and adulthood fears, and does so quite effectively. The Orphanage has had a string of successful festival plays, it’s the Spanish entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar, and it’s already a big hit in its native country.
