At the 11th hour, two upcoming releases aimed at the young demographic have pushed back their release dates slightly. They are: the Katherine Heigl romantic comedy, 27 Dresses (moved to January 18 from January 11), and the Jack Black/Mos Def comedy, Be Kind Rewind (moved from January 25 to February 22). There are potentially a hundred reasons why the studios chose to make these moves, but I have to wonder how much the surprise smash success of Juno and its subsequent expansion, played a factor? I mean, we all kinda knew Juno would be a hit, but this big? It could be argued that Juno (as it preps to widen to 2,000 screens) will dominate these audiences for the next few weeks.
