iW NEWS | Weekend Estimates: "4 Months" Soars To Top Of iW BOT

According to indieWIRE Box Office Tracking (iW BOT) estimates from Rentrak, Cristian Mungiu‘s “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days” is set to top this week’s iW BOT. The IFC Films release grossed $48,200 on just 2 screens, averaging $24,100. Also opening was Jieho Lee‘s ThinkFilm release, “The Air I Breathe,” which took in $21,500 on 7 screens, for an average of $3,071. Several Academy Award nominees expanded, with Paul Thomas Anderson‘s “There Will Be Blood” the per-theatre-average leader. “Blood” added 496 screens for a 885 screen total, grossing $4.88 million for an average of $5,522. The film now stands with a $14.76 million total. Joel and Ethan Coen‘s DGA-winning “No Country For Old Men” added 289 screens to gross $2.50 million, averaging $2,261 and bringing its cumulative gross to $52.03 million, while Joe Wright‘s “Atonement” took in $3.96 million on 1,400 screens, averaging $2,832 and totalling $37.91 million.
