Making Sundance But Missing ‘Cloverfield’

Making Sundance But Missing 'Cloverfield'

Some may think attending events like this weekend’s Sundance Film Festival, means I’m a serious film geek. No, it doesn’t. I’ll tell you what does: the fact that, during my entire time cinematically isolated in Park City, I will envy all of the people who can go to a multiplex and finally see Cloverfield (opening on Friday). I’m thrilled to have the chance to attend Sundance for my sixth consecutive year, but I really wanna see Cloverfield, and with a sold-out evening crowd of strangers. It doesn’t help put me at ease, when I read reviews and comments like these (et tu, Weinberg?). I guess I can always see it after I get back home from Sundance, though, every film geek knows it just won’t be the same.

P.S. – Paramount should really consider shipping a print to Park City and having a few special, secret screenings.
