-“Falling Slowly” for best original song!
American Gangster‘s lack of nominations
-5 nominations for Ratatouille
No Country and Blood‘s deserving leading of the nominees
-Four women nominated for screenwriting
-Canadians! Two nominations in animated short for deserving I Met The Walrus and Madame Tutli-Putli; Polley Ellen Page; Jason Reitman; lead acting mominees from two Canadian productions
-Kevin O’Connell gets a 20th shot at Oscar glory for sound mixing Transformers

The bad:

-Cate Blanchett for lead actress
-Ruby Dee for supporting actress
-Amy Adams snub
-Paul Dano snub
-The little to no nominations for 4 Months; Before The Devil; I’m Not There; Zodiac
-The over the top love for Enchanted in the song category at the expense of Eddie Vedder
Sweeney Todd‘s shut out of deserving technical achievements
-The already-known tragedy of the foreign film and documentary shortlists
