On a strangely beautiful Monday night, Brooklyn-based success stories The National and Yeasayer played a sold-out show at Central Park’s Summerstage. Definitive “blog bands,” it was quite a treat to see a hometown crowd fill Summerstage (and then some, with fans camped out on the perimeter) to see two bands that have never had a traditional hit song.
(The National at Central Park on Monday night. They played a 90-minute set made up songs from their latest two releases, Alligator and Boxer.)
(Yeasayer performed a magnificent opening set of blistering songs from their excellent LP, All Hour Cymbals.)
