I knew when I left Fantastic Fest early, I was going to miss a lot of the goods. And by goods, I mean the “secret screenings” that mark some of the event’s biggest annual highlights. This year’s “secret screenings” included The Brothers Bloom (seen it), Rocknrolla (I can wait), Role Models (curious because I love David Wain and Paul Rudd), and the Closing Night Film, City of Ember. I was a big fan of Gil Kenan’s last feature, the animated Monster House, so I’m already excited to see his live-action follow-up. Would have been great to be there, especially because co-star Bill Murray came out to represent! How cool is that? Reportedly, Murray was a dream guest, entertaining audiences and getting into the Alamo Drafthouse spirit(s). More on his visit at the Austin Movies Blog as well as at Picture in Picture.
