At midnight on Friday the note above was posted on indieWIRE.com as we prepped for the move to the new site. Well, last night at about 5:30 p.m. — from our office in Soho (with Brian Brooks and I standing anxiously behind him) — our CTO Albert Lai flipped the switch re-opening indieWIRE. While tomorrow is the official launch day for the new indieWIRE, we decided to quietly debut it early.
As you can see, all the indieWIRE-hosted blogs have a new look (and are now featured on the front page of the new site). And I’ve detailed many of the other changes in a welcome letter.
As I mentioned in a preview letter last week, one year ago we sat down with Ted Leonsis and Rick Allen at Sundance to talk about selling indieWIRE. It took us about six months to make the deal and that left us just six months to accomplish our ambitious goal of re-imagining indieWIRE in time for Sundance ’09. We have some amazing colleagues at SnagFilms and a terrific team at iW; we all worked together very closely to rapidly develop and build the new site.
I’ll reiterate that this is the first step, giving us a new platform on which to grow our company with your input, guidance and feedback. Thanks and hope to see you soon on the new site!!
