Thursday Night Lights: Hardwicke, Quaid at the Texas Film Hall Of Fame

Thursday night in Austin, the Austin Film Society hosted the 9th annual Texas Film Hall of Fame ceremony. Despite being on the AFS board, and having very close ties to the organization for the last decade, this was the first time I was able to attend the event. It was a rousing celebration of Texas film history as well as a call to arms to say that Texas needs to get its shit together with regard to legislative change about film production incentives. Here are some pics from the night:

(Actor/musician Billy Bob Thornton speaks to reporters on the red carpet of the show. Thornton, who will also perform at the SXSW Music Festival next week, was given the Honorary Texan Award for his years working on movies in the state.)

(Joan Dentler, Friday Night Lights fan and my mom, grabs a photo with Lights star Kyle Chandler at the pre-show cocktail party.)

(Catherine Hardwicke, director of the mega-smash Twilight and a McAllen, TX native, accepts the Ann Richards award at the ceremony.)

(Actor, and Houston native, Dennis Quaid speaks to the crowd before giving his Alamo co-star Thornton his award.)

(Filmmaker and Austin Film Society founder Richard Linklater presented a tribute to recently-deceased Texas legend Horton Foote.)
