EDITOR’S NOTE: This is part of a series of videos running this week of the indieWIRE/Apple Filmmaker’s Talks that happened during the Tribeca Film Festival. All the videos were shot and edited by Tim LaTorre.
Last week, indieWIRE reported from a talk at the Apple Store SoHo featuring “Rudo y Cursi” stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, and director Carlos Cuarón. Moderated by indieWIRE‘s own Eugene Hernandez, the discussion was a riotous affair complete with Bernal and Luna joking about the many offers they’ve received to return to the bicurious glory that was their previous effort, “Y Tu Mama Tambien.” But at the risk of creating a bit of Gael/Diego overkill (though is there such a thing?), I’ll direct you to the article we published last week for a full overview, or let the video below speak for itself.
“Rudo y Cursi” – which finds Bernal and Luna playing competitive stepbrothers who work on their family’s banana ranch until a scout sees their moves on a local football team and sends them to the big leagues – is being released by Sony Pictures Pictures this Friday, May 8th (or, as this video will inform, three days after Cinco de Mayo, which it just so happens is today).
