“Weekend Update,” perhaps the one aspect of Saturday Night Live that everyone can agree on, is expanding. The weekly SNL satirical news segment will reportedly become anywhere from six to 13 half-hour prime-time episodes slated for the 2009-2010 NBC TV season. This is one way to not only further the SNL brand, but it will also become an interesting way to compete with “Weekend Update” inspirations such as The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
