Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired U.S. theatrical rights to “(Untitled),” director Jonathan Parker’s comic take on the state of contemporary art. The film stars Adam Goldberg and Marley Shelton as a music composer and contemporary art gallerist respectively, who embark on a highly charged affair. The film has made the festival rounds, most recently screening at the San Francisco International Film Festival. It also stars Vinnie Jones, Lucy Punch, and Zak Orth.
“(Untitled)” marks another collaboration between writer/director Parker and writer/producer Catherine di Napoli. Their first film, “Bartleby,” was the Opening Night Selection at the 2001 New Directors/New Films.
“‘(Untitled)’ is witty, smart and completely entertaining,” Meyer Gottlieb, President of Samuel Goldwyn Films, said in a statement. “Jonathan and Catherine have done a wonderful job capturing the provocative and complicated music and art worlds without ever taking themselves too seriously.”
Samuel Goldwyn has slated a September 18th release. Peter Goldwyn, Vice President of Acquisitions negotiated the deal with Parker and di Napoli.
