B-Side Entertainment has acquired all North American rights to Andrew Fredericks’ healthcare documentary “Money-Driven Medicine.” San-Francisco-based non-profit distributor California Newsreel will release the film digitally and on DVD to the educational and institutional marketplace and are collaborating with B-Side on both theatrical and non-theatrical screenings across the country. In addition, excerpts of the film will be the focus of “Bill Moyers Journal,” Friday, August 28 on PBS.
Based on Maggie Mahar’s book of the same name, “Money-Driven Medicine” analyzes the rising costs and diminishing efficacy of the American healthcare system, featuring interviews with leading medical experts such as Dr. Donald Berwick, president of the Institute for Health Care Improvement, medical ethicist Larry Churchill, and author and journalist Mahar. The film was produced by produced by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, Peter Bull and Chris Matonti.
