Exec News: Martin Marquet Joins Apparition

Thompson on Hollywood

Press agent Martin Marquet is shutting down his L.A.-based indie praisery M. Link to join Bill Pohlad and Bob Berney’s Apparition as managing vice president of publicity. A French citizen, the bilingual Marquet knows both the foreign and domestic universe. Reporting to marketing and publicity chief Jeanne Berney, Marquet joins pub v-p Vicky Eguia at Pohlad’s Century City offices. “I am convinced that my new responsibilities at Apparition and my inspirations in the film industry are a great match,” writes Marquet in an email.

As the John Keats romance Bright Star continues to play in about 80 markets (total gross $4.2 million), Apparition is upbeat over the modest success of its third release (a service deal with Sony Worldwide Acquisitions Group), Troy Duffy’s Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, which continues to expand with 125 more screens this weekend. So far it has grossed $1,247,352 total.

—Spielberg, Hanks, Cameron, Lucas —and ALLLL the rest of Hollywood
continue to morally amuse us with anachronistic, seen-to-death WWII
retreads —while ignoring completely the gargantuan revelations of
‘peacetime’ genocide in their ‘fave’ mass market dream’s land
ACROSS the Pacific —i.e. Red China.

70 million exterminated —in ‘peacetime’ unoutted and completely
unanswered for. Spielberg and Hanks and Hollywood maintaining TOTAL SILENCE —afraid of endangering their lucrative franchise slums.

And also —the epic, and STILL very much unfolding Korean War
‘overlooked’ on yet another ten year anniversary as millions continue
o suffer and die there —-in Red China’s neighbor and client state.
