Trailer Watch: Scorsese's Boardwalk Empire

Many top directors are turning to HBO. Given the level of interest in quality dramas for adults at the studios, who wouldn’t? HBO’s the last place willing to spend big bucks for that kind of cinema.

I’m salivating over this trailer for Martin Scorsese’s pilot for the 12-part 1920s Atlantic City series Boardwalk Empire, starring Steve Buscemi, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Kenneth Williams, Dabney Coleman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Michael Pitt and Michael Shannon. Terence Winter, a producer on The Sopranos, created the series with Scorsese. HBO plans a September debut.
