Match Factory Picks Up Miranda July's The Future

Thompson on Hollywood

It’s a sin that it’s been five years since Miranda July won the Camera d’Or for her first feature, Me You and Everyone You Know at Cannes.

So it’s good news that foreign sales agent The Match Factory has acquired writer-director Miranda July’s just-wrapped L.A. relationship comedy The Future, which stars the actress-auteur and Amish Linklater (Fantastic Four) as a couple who have a tough time staying grounded in the real world. “We haunt oursevles, googling our own name, perpetually clicking on search,” states video artist and New Yorker contributor July, “because if we’re always searching then we never have to notice that we’ve found it, we’re there, this is really it.”

Me You and Everyone You Know producer Gina Kwon and Gerhard Meixner and Roman Paul of Germany’s Razor Film (Germany) produced the film with U.K.’s Film4. UTA is selling North American rights; Haut et Court has France.
