Lone Scherfig's One Day Starts Filming with Hathaway and Sturgess

Thompson on Hollywood

Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess have started filming One Day, which David Nicholls adapted from his bestselling novel. Lone Scherfig (An Education) is directing; the ensemble includes Romola Garai (Atonement), Jamie Sives (Get Him To The Greek), Rafe Spall Hot Fuzz, Ken Scott (Charlie Wilson’s War) and Jodie Whittaker (Venus).

The story follows Emma (Hathaway, an ambitious and principled working-class girl) and Dexter (Sturgess, a wealthy dreamer who sees the world as his playground), on each anniversary of the day they met, as they experience highs and lows, friendship and heartbreak, over the course of two decades. The book was a #1 bestseller in the UK and debuted at #7 on the NYT fiction bestseller list on July 11th. Production just started in London on this Random House Films and Focus Features partnership. Before its late 2011 release, filming will take cast and crew throughout the UK, Scotland and France.

Thanks for the posting!

I read the book. One Day is really wonderful! Very funny yet realistic, so true to the life and moving story.Jim Sturgess is perfect for the part.If done right, film would be just great and I’m sure it will bring Sturgess his first Oscar nomination! I believe he is future Oscar winner since I saw him first time on his TV movie. Please see “Fifty Dead Men Walking” and his new film “Heartless”(will be released in October in US).These two performances are the proof how talented he is.
