Oscar Talk: Diane Lane vs. Annette Bening vs. Julianne Moore, Inception, Hereafter, The Way Back

There’s still a long way to go in the Oscar race. Kris Tapley and I debate whether Secretariat is this year’s mainstream Blind Side, Diane Lane is this year’s Sandra Bullock, Julianne Moore and Annette Bening will both make it for The Kids Are All Right, and if Chris Nolan’s Inception, John Cameron Mitchell’s Rabbit Hole, Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, Pixar’s Toy Story 3, Peter Weir’s The Way Back, and Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter have a shot at the top ten.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your comments on Fur and Nowhere Boy. If you can’t afford the music and photography why bother? That’s not very good advice for aspiring filmmakers and independent studios. Especially since a big budget in the wrong hands can ruin a film. Also if it’s a story about John Lennon pre-Beatles, what’s the point of needing Beatles music?

For goodness sake! Give Julianne Moore a fuckin’ Oscar already, please!
I don’t understand how the Oscar Academy works, but it’s just unbelievable that they haven’t noticed that she deserves it! Come on, The Hours, Chloe, The end of the affair, A single man..! She’s always been nominated but she never really gets anything. She’s one of the most talented actresses right now, and i just can’t believe that other overrated actresses have won an Oscar or a Golden Globe and she hasn’t yet!
She’s talented, serious at work, very expressive, incredibly beautiful and has a long career. This really pisses me off…
