Michael Greenspan’s feature directorial debut, “Wrecked,” which stars Adrien Brody and recently had its world premiere at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, has been acquired for U.S. distribution by IFC Midnight, the genre label of IFC Films. IFC plans to release the film in spring, 2011.
Essentially a one-man show, “Wrecked,” written by Christopher Dodd, stars Brody as a man who wakes up in a car-wreck at the bottom of steep cliff in a forest, with a dead body in the back seat and a bag of cash in the trunk.
Kyle Mann (“Capote,” “Push”) developed, produced and financed the thriller with Telefilm Canada, through his production shingle, Independent Edge. Brody also pulled executive producer duties on the project.
“‘Wrecked’ is the perfect film for IFC Midnight and its audience,” said IFC Films President of Entertainment Jonathan Sehring in a press release. “Adrien Brody gives an incredibly intense performance here and Michael Greenspan is a remarkable new talent.”
The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco on behalf of IFC Films, and by Ben Weiss of Paradigm and Charlotte Mickie from eOne Films International.
