Leonardo DiCaprio To Star In & Produce JFK Assassination Pic 'Legacy of Secrecy'

Update: The press release announcing the picture says “an acclaimed director who has previously worked with Leonardo has expressed interest in directing the film”. So let the guessing games begin, but a Christopher Nolan-directed JFK tale? Yeah, we’d be there.

Leonardo DiCaprio is quickly filling up his post-“Inception” slate. He’s shooting Clint Eastwood‘s “Hooverearly in the new year, he’s got Baz Luhrmann‘s “The Great Gatsby” with Carey Mulligan potentially on deck, and he also recently acquired the rights to true life serial killer book “The Devil In The White City” as a possible starring vehicle. But he’s now eyeing yet another presidential, based-on-a-true-story flick.

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in and produce the JFK assassination film “Legacy Of Secrecy” based on the book by Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann. DiCaprio will play FBI informant Jack Van Laningham in the film, which will put forth the theory “that Mafia godfather Carlos Marcello confessed to Van Laningham to having ordered JFK’s assassination. As part of a dangerous and long-secret undercover operation, the FBI positioned Van Laningham to become confidant to Marcello, who ruled organized crime in Louisiana and most of Texas for decades.”

We can’t say we’re too thrilled by the prospect of this one if only because JFK assassination books, films and documentaries, both dodgy and respectable, seem to come out every week with a different theory. But obviously, the story is one that will forever endure in the American psyche, and it’s an event that is often cited as a critical turning point in American history.

This one is still a bit of a way off. No writer has been hired yet and Warner Bros. is eying the project as a potential 2013 release to coincide with 50th anniversary of the assassination. If you can’t wait until then to get your conspiracy fix, there’s always Oliver Stone‘s electrifying “JFK” which spins pretty much every theory out there with dazzling showmanship that is undeniably compelling and remains, for now, the go-to standard of JFK assassination pics. When JFK came to Newark N.J. my father was on a roof working, two city blocks away from where the motorcade came down Broad street ! Five secret service agents detained my father went through his tool bags andquestioned him, this was in a city that loved JFK ! In a city like Dallas that had so many NUTS and so much dislike for JFK,the secret service would have closed every window that could have been a potential sniper position(yes!even in the summer !)This was allowed to happen !Posner is an ASS !

“Hard to top Ollie’s JFK” … The most pointless remake of all time this would be. Believe what you believe one way or the other, regardless, Oliver Stone’s JFK is the definitive movie of any of it’s kind.

Richard Lee

There are no historical assassination researchers of any merit that even remotely acccept these Waldron/Hartmann book CIA coverup premise’s that “The mob did it”. A complete detailed review can be found in in their Book review archives of “Ultimate Sacrifice”, and of “Legacy of Secrets”. (see also the media section and ABC) These reviewers, not the authors, are considered experts in this history. Other critical knowlegeable reviews elsewhere are similarly negative. It’s shameful that such trash and disinformation to protect these CIA effected major political crimes of out times is given credibility by our mainstream corporate media, but they have been doing this for 47 years, as long as JFK lived. Mafia hit men were hired through the CIA’s Project Mongoose by William Harvey under the direction of CIA General Edward Lansdale and were only considered expendable “mechanics” for reasons of plausible denial. foreign “hits” were generally done by the “Green Berrets”. Most domestic political hits of the 60’s had to do with the Vietnam war, and the Cold warriors in office.and the military.

the 26 th movie project on IMDB’s opinion for Dicaprio

Hard to top Ollie’s JFK. I wonder what Leo sees in this that makes him think it’s worth putting out the umpteenth JFK conspiracy film?
