North American distribution rights to Mark Landsman’s acclaimed music documentary “Thunder Soul” have gone to Roadside Attractions. Roadside is planning a spring 2011 release for the film, produced by Snoot Entertainment.
Winner of the 2010 Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival, “Thunder Soul” follows the alumni from Houston’s Kashmere High School Stage Band, who return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for their 92-year-old band leader.
“We’re delighted to be working with Roadside Attractions on the release of ‘Thunder Soul,” said Snoot Entertainment President Keith Calder in a press release. “Not only do they have an incredible track record releasing documentaries but they also share our belief that ‘Thunder Soul’ provides a powerful theatrical experience for all audiences.”
The deal was negotiated by Howard Cohen on behalf of Roadside Attractions, and by Calder, Submarine Entertainment and CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.
