Paprika or Portman?
What a fascinating duel. Both actresses give Oscar-caliber Best Actress performances playing stage performers whose off-stage and on-stage lives blur and distort reality/fiction. Natlie Portman is the Black Swan big studio darling. Paprika Steen the dark horse foreigner. If Steen gets nominated this could play out like a movie script all of its own. Big studio and big star v unknown underdogs! Can Paprika really take down Portman? And if the odds for the Dane are not long enough, the film missed SAG eligibility by 1 week, so it’s Oscar or bust! Anyhone who has seen Applause will know the answer.
