Hot off the heels of her career-making turn in “Black Swan,” Mila Kunis has joined the cast and Adam Scott, known for his role on the beloved, but already-canceled Starz series, “Party Down,” is in negotiations to join the cast as well.
What’s it about? Cue Mark Wahlberg who recently said, “it’s about this kid who gets a bear for Christmas. And, you know, it’s the ‘70s—it’s one of those Teddy Ruxpin-ish teddy bears where you squeeze it and it says, ‘I love you!’ The kid wishes and dreams that the bear would come alive—and a Christmas wish must be granted—and it does [come alive].” We presume the 1970s setting opens the film and then catches up with the grown man years later and, “The bear becomes famous, and that’s my ticket to getting things and living a life of privilege.”
And we’re basically correct. THR says, “Twenty-five years later, the bear is still at his side, but has now evolved into a cursing, smoking, delinquent (voiced by MacFarlane) that is preventing the man from maturing.”
Ahh, leave it to potty-humor obsessed MacFarlane to dream up a concept as mature and controversial-sounding as this. Kunis will play Wahlberg’s impatient girlfriend who is sick of waiting around for this curmudgeonly Teddy Bear to move out, and Scott will play her boss who acts as a romantic wedge between the two lovers. Wahlberg recently revealed that the bear would be a motion-captured creation.
