Golden Globes: Paul Giamatti Wins Actor Comedy/Musical for Barney's Version

Thompson on Hollywood

Given the weakness of the Golden Globe comedy/musical categories this year, it was hard to call who would win best actor. Paul Giamatti totally deserved the win for hilarious Canadian comedy/drama Barney’s Version. I hope this award drives more people to watch the movie, which is worth seeing not only for Giamatti’s performance, but those of Minnie Driver and Rosamund Pike. It’s just going into theaters now.

Here’s our interview with Giamatti.

This is a brilliant surprise and I can only hope that Giamatti builds more heat in the weeks to come. Here’s hoping that the Oscars are less predictable than the Golden Globes.
